Premium Rush (2012)

This is one of those movies that is far better than it has any right to be. The first WTF moment is that there's a trailer out with Joseph Gordon Levitt in this movie and the second is that it's getting positive reviews. So I was curious and checked it out.

The movie takes place in a universe where there's a serious bike messenger culture in New York city, a culture that looks after each other and risk their bodies every second on the job. They are the best methods of delivery as they fly through traffic dodging traffic, people, and the random dangers in New York City. JGL plays Wylie, someone who dropped out of law school because he couldn't ever settle down sitting in an office for the rest of his life. He rides without breaks fast as possible and that makes him the best at what he does.

One day he gets in trouble delivering a really important package that a very dangerous and dirty cop wants to get a hold of, played incredibly well by Michael Shannon. This guy is going to be great as General Zod if he was this good in a bike messenger movie.

The movie is really fun, fast paced, most of it taking place on a bike with the scenery of New York. JGL and Michael Shannon are really good. Give this a chance for funny action movie.

Agreed. Silly and fun with some legitimate laughs. Even the geography of the city worked (well, mostly).

Definitely silly.  If it weren't for JGL and Shannon, the movie would be borderline unwatchable for me.  It's funny how they're the only two recognizable actors in the movie, and no one else is even remotely in their league.  It's almost like they stepped onto the set of a B-movie and decided to make it good with the enormity of their talent.

If you're into those two actors, you'll dig most of this.  Shannon especially, he's hilarious.
